Frequently Asked Questions

Q) Are you insured?
A) Yes, we are covered by Pet Business Insurance. Please click here to read our T&Cs.

Q) What happens if my Cat becomes ill while I am away?
A) We will ask you for your Vets contact details before you leave. In the event of your pet becoming ill or involved in an accident, we will ensure that your pet is taken to the vet and make every attempt to contact you by either phone or email.

Q) My Cat normally uses a cat-flap and can go out when he/she wants to. Do I have to keep my cat indoors while I am away?
A) It is entirely your choice if your cat is to go out or to be kept in while you’re away. If your cat is kept in, Captain Mewalot will happily empty and clear litter trays and play with your pet.  We will even hoover the carpets before your return if you wanted.

Q) What happens if I’m delayed on my journey home?
A) If you are delayed on your return journey, Captain Mewalot will continue to visit at the daily times already arranged. On your return we ask for a confirmation call from you at which point Captain Mewalot will return your keys to you, knowing that you have returned safely.

Q) What’s included in a visit?
A) Visits are flexible depending on you and your cat’s needs. A standard visit for one cat would be around 30 minutes, but we could stay for longer or for less time if needed. During this time we ensure that your pet has enough food and fresh water or any other dietary provision. We can also administer any medication that your cat requires. We clear litter trays and cat baskets if required and the rest of the time is spent interacting with your pet. Captain Mewalot brings along a wide variety of toys to entertain and stimulate your pet.

Q) Can you give my cat its medication(s) while we are away?
A) Yes, Captain Mewalot will administer any medication as per your instructions.

Q) Will you look after my other small pet at the same time?
A) Captain Mewalot will look after your other small pets at the same time for no extra cost. We cater for:

  • Fish
  •
  • Hamsters
  •
  • Gerbils
  •
  • Rabbits
  •
  • Guinea Pigs
  •
  • Tortoises
  •
  • Chinchillas
  •
  • Budgerigar
  •

Q) I have three, four etc. cats. Do I have to pay more?
A) Captain Mewalot charges per visit not per pet so you do not have to pay more for two, three or even ten cats*!

Q) My requirements don’t seem to be catered for by your services
A) Our service is very flexible and we realise that every cat is a bit different. If you have a specific set of requirements, just get in touch and we’ll let you know how we can help.

* For more than ten cats we may have to charge a little more for our time. Please just check with us for further details.
